Clear, sunny days.

300

Which severe weather event is the largest and usually the most severe?

Hurricanes.

300

How does the ozone layer help humans?

It blocks harmful UV rays.

300

That that cloud is bringing some form of precipitation.

300

What is a weather forecast?

A prediction of what the weather will be in the near future.

400

What do we call the layer of air that surrounds the earth?

RADAR

400

List the 5 types of severe weather that we can get here in Saskatchewan.

Thunderstorm, drought, flood, tornado, blizzard.

400

List some jobs that depend on the weather. (List at least 3)

What happens to air particles when they heat up? How does this impact things like hot air balloons?

The particles spread out, becoming less dense, and rises. Hot air balloons use this principle to fly. The air in the balloon is heated up, becoming less dense than the air around it, and allowing the balloon to rise up into the air.

Meteorology

600

Why is Canada warmer in the summer, and colder in the winter?

In the summer, when the days are long, we get more energy from the sun, causing warmer temperatures. In the winter, when the days are short, we get less energy from the sun, resulting in cooler temperatures.

600

What causes the wind to blow? Where does the wind blow from and to?

Differences in temperature and air pressure. Air blows from high air pressure areas to low air pressure areas.

600

What does a weather warning mean?

Severe weather is happening or is about to happen.

600

How does weather affect crops? (at least 3 things)
