How is hail formed?
Wind takes rain drops high into the atmosphere where they form a layer of ice. They continue to do this until the hail is to heavy and falls to the earth.

How is lightning formed?
Wind blows pieces of ice so they rub and create friction. The friction builds up an electrical charge which flows from one point to another.
