Explain how the Earth atmosphere acts like a greenhouse.

 A greenhouse lets in light and prevents heat from escaping.  The light warms the plants, and encourages their growth. The heat encourages the survival and growth of organisms (plants). The atmosphere prevents most of the heat from escaping and getting lost in space.

Bordering the sunlit side is a narrow zone called the Band of Twilight, which is illuminated by scattered or refracted light.

The Twilight Zone happens because some of our sunlight refracts (curves) around the earth even when the sun is just out of sight.
