Two factors affect the rate of weathering:
Type of Rock:If a rock's minerals can dissolve easily, it will weather faster. If the rock is permeable, which means it has little connected air spaces, it weathers faster.
Climate:Wet climates can cause chemical changes and frost wedging. Hotter places cause chemical reactions to occur faster. Human activity, such as causing acid rain, can also cause weathering.
Does weathering happen fast or slow ?
