what is vibration?

the repeated back-and-forth movement of an object that force has been applied to

100

how do we ask to go to the bathroom in science class?

by using the hand signal. all verbal requests will be ignored!

100

what has hands but can't clap?

a clock.

100

what are the three ways light can interact with a material?

transmission: passing through, goes through the material

reflection: bouncing off, going back where it came from

absorption: soaking up, a material does not let light come through

100

what are the four science class norms?

be kind, work hard, be safe, and learn responsibly

200

how does a sound-maker become deformed?

a sound-maker is deformed when force is applied to it

200

when one has something to say, they should.....

raise their hand! calling out or talking over peers is not cool in science class

200

when things go wrong, what can you always count on?

your fingers :)

200

what is the path light takes that allows us to see? (start from the light source)

light source -> object -> our eyes -> changed into an electrical signal and sent to the brain

200

how can we be safe in science class?

keep your hands to yourself!!!!

300

what do we call the number of peaks or valleys in one second?

frequency

300

what do you do with your cell phone when you walk into science class?

put it in the cell phone bin! no phones are allowed in class.

300

I follow you all the time and copy your every move, but you can’t touch me or catch me. What am I?

your shadow.

300
when there are multiple light inputs, which does our brain respond to?

the strongest signal! (the brightest one)

300

if someone is bothering you, how can you still uphold our science class norm of being kind?

don't bother them back! keep your hands to yourself and tell a teacher. we will take it from there.
400

what is the distance from the resting position of a sound wave to a peak or valley?

amplitude

400

when is it an appropriate time to leave your seat/desk area?

with teacher permission! if you need something just raise your hand and ask.

400

what fruit can you never cheer up?

a blueberry

400
why do one way mirrors function the way they do?

because of microstructures at the one-way mirrors surface. a one-way mirror is half-silvered, so it is about half reflective and have transmissive.

400

which class norm do you get double points for in classdojo (if you uphold the norm?)

work hard!

500

is there a relationship between volume (loudness) and amplitude of sound waves?

yes! louder volume = higher ampltidue

500

what is the do now routine?

everyone grabs a do now as they enter the classroom and heads to their seat. if one needs a pencil, they will quietly sign it out at the front of the room and return to their seat. all do nows are completed independently and silently. do nows are randomly graded for completion (not if you got the right answer, but if you attempted to).

500

You see me once in June, twice in November and not at all in May. What am I?

the letter "e"

500

why do windows sometimes function as mirrors?

because of different amounts of light on either side of the window. if there is more light on one side of the window, it will both transmit and reflect light on that side (side with more light = window acts as window and mirror)

500

what does it mean to learn responsibly?

Come to class prepared and on time, do your work and study hard. Use technology responsibly & practice academic honesty.
