"I applied for financial aid over a month ago, yet when I check my student center, there are no to-do list items, and I do not know what I did wrong..." How do you proceed? Where in SIS can you check for more information? Hint: think about how a FAFSA is linked to a Student's Account.

1) Student Center-General Info Tab Confirm their Demographic information: SS #, DOB, first and last name. Is it spelled correctly? Does their Social display 000-00-0000? To update this information, they will need a government ID, their Social Security Card (we cannot just enter it in). They need to see Student Services.

" Tuition is due tomorrow, and I applied for financial Aid yesterday. Do I still have to pay for my classes? What are my options?"

1) Yes, your tuition can only be deferred if you have completed your to do list items, and have been awarded Financial Aid before tuition is due. You can be reimbursed once your award is posted, but you will need to set up a payment plan to hold your classes. 2) set up a payment plan, or sign up for late start classes once you have been awarded.

"I would like to request a Loan this semester. What form do I need to fill out, where can I find it, and what do I do after I submit it to financial aid?"

1)Revision Request -if they initially declined a student loan in the beginning of the semester and now would like to request a subsidized and/or unsubsidized loan. 2) A RALF (Request Additional Loans Form) if they have received a subsidized loan and are requesting additional loans. 3) These forms can be found on the PVCC Financial Aid website. 4) For revision requests, they will have to follow up in their student center and complete the Loan entrance Counseling for first time burrowers, and MPN (master promisory note)

Have you attended a mandatory nursing information session? Before you see Dionna or Sue, you must first attend an info session (this information is consistent across the district). Any advisor can assist this student with placement into the nursing pre-requisites. Quick advisement can help students with fewer than 30 credits. A student is unable to enroll for a class online in self service. The error message displayed says: Pre-requisites are not met for this course." The student mentions that they took the class at Scottsdale Community College. How do you proceed?

There are 2 options: First -advise the student to complete a white registration card. Then, You may utilize quick enroll and verify/override the prerequisite in your own SIS acct. or, Place the student into QLESS for Student Services, Enrollment, Notes-Override

A student is attempting to set up a payment plan in their Student Center. It will not allow them to setup a payment plan even though their account shows current and future due charges for Spring. Why might this be?

The student may have an existing financial aid award. Check this by navigating to "View Financial Aid" in their Student Center. If there is a pending financial aid award, they will not be able to set up a payment plan.

A student would like to attach their tax transcript for FAFSA to their Verification Worksheet to complete verification. Can this be done in self service? What are the steps?

Yes, this can be done in Self Service. In fact is is the desired method for faster verification. The student must follow these steps to attach their transcript to a verification work sheet: 1. Utilize a scanner in career services to scan their transcript to their Maricopa Student email. 2. When they return to self service, they then can open their email and the verification worksheet (in their Student Center) 3. The attachment can then be downloaded and attached to worksheet.

After being referred to Self Service, a student is unsuccessful in resetting their MEID password. They were able to locate the MEID, but could not remember the answers to their secret questions. How do you proceed?

Refer the student to the Help Desk. Make sure they have their MEID and student ID number on a card. They may call, or go in person to have their account reset.

A student would like to send an official copy of an evaluated external transcript (outside of maricopa) from PVCC to another Maricopa Community College. Can this be done from self service? How do we refer to this type of transcript?

This cannot be done from Self Service. The student is requesting a "Courtesy Copy" of an official transcript sent from PVCC to another MCCCD college. There is no charge and these are sent via Intercampus Mail. The student must see Student Services to locate and send the transcript. You may check in SIS, External Education to verify that PVCC has the Transcript on file.
