Who are the afternoon Morahs?
A classroom’s curriculum stems from the particular interests of children. Curriculum topics are derived from talking with children and their families, as well as from things that are known to be interesting to children. The Morahs learn about their interests by observation and documentation.
What is the "Emergent Curriculu"?
Make sure to do this because ratios change in the class and Morahs have other responsibilities. Obviously if this happens once or twice during the course of the year, it is absolutely acceptable.
What is coming on time to pick up your child on-time?
We use these to help ease apprehensions and model successful adjustment to school, conflict resolution or any lesson we are teaching.
What are picture and story books?
We all say these before eating. We love giving thanks to Hashem. There's one for each variety of food.
What are Brachot?
These all look the same at Gan. Parents pay $10 for cupcakes or fruit. Parents are invited to celebrate in class. For the 3's this looks a little different. Here they taste honey while learning the Alef Bet and receive a special gift of Tzitzit and Kippah or a candle stick.
What are birthdays at Gan?
These Morahs stay in your class while your children nap. They change daily because of Morahs schedules.

What should children, birth to five, know and be able to do?
Text Morah Leah or Morah Hillary and Have an emergency back-up who can cover for you.
What if you are running late?
At Gan we do not say this..."You are not sad", You should not cry.
Alternatively, a comment like this can be hard in a classroom, "We know you are feeling sad that Mommy left, we are here to love you."
What is validating a child's emotions?
Shabbos Party, Challah making, Shabbat Ima and Aba.
What are Fridays like at Gan?
This is developmentally appropriate in Toddlers. This can be very emotionally charges , but often happens because toddlers cannot express their feelings, they are frustrated or they are teething. We also see this during happy moments. We will try our best to predict and prevent.
We will support both the children who do this and who have it done to them. We will always first give support the the child that is hurt.
What is biting at Gan?
Always a friendly face in the office. She is our Director of Admissions and sent you a long HW list!
Who is Wendy Beder?
This approach to early childhood education views young children as individuals who are curious about their world and have the powerful potential to learn from all that surrounds them.
What is Reggio Emilia?
These are sent home 3-4 times a week to give the families a snap-shot of what is happening during your child's day. This is a compilation of many milestones and you will receive this at the end of your child's journey at Gan. This is new for us at Gan, but you will receive many pictures through this.

What is positive reinforcement with guidance and scaffolding?
It doesn't matter how you observe at home. At Gan, we are respectful of everyone and know that everyone practices Judaism in his/her own way at home.
What if we do not observe the same way that my child's learning at Gan?
We provide this in the morning, but not in the afternoon.
We provide this on Monday (Chicken), Wednesday (Pizza) and Thursday (Pasta) and all the fixings.

What are the 4 C's
This is an opportunity to listen, collaborate and share information with parents and to convey a sense of care and understanding for the unique potential of each child. This is also a time to work together on challenges that a child might be having in the class.
What is Parent Teacher Dialogues?
An emotionally safe place where children feel secure and comfortable to take risks. Most common forms of discipline are avoided because of the proactice measures that the Morahs take.

This is part of the curriculum! We sing to the children and make sure they are clean and dry. When your children is ready for this, we will support them and your family. There guidelines, however that should be followed.
What is diapering and toileting at Gan?
These two women and this team are working diligently to make sure that the Yeladim are nurtured, loved and educated. We will make sure that they have a wonderful experience. They are always here to answer questions and hear your concerns. They are also available to hear and welcome positive feedback.
