How did Ghana's empire fall?
In the second half of the 11th century, the Almoravids began attacking the empire. In 1076, Ghana's capital, Kumbi, was captured by them. Ghana's King regained power in 1087, but the old empire had broken apart. Ghana lost many natural resources, which also aided in its downfall. People were forced to leave because of the lack of resources. The empire ended in 1203. Later, Mali took over.
