The most common method is by extracting stem cells from the blood. If people ask be sure to tell them about both procedures.
I've registered to be a stem cell donor, does that mean I can donate my stem cells every month like blood?
No!
Stem cells are different from blood donations. You get contacted if you are a match with someone, then you can decide whether you want to donate or not. Some people may be on the registry for years and never be contacted. Matches are rare, which is why we want to get more people registered!
