*It is important to note that a Form 2 does not allow hospital detention.  It permits the opportunity for an individual to be examined by a physician.  The physician will decide whether or not to sign a Form 1 which authorizes the detention and assessment of an individual who meets the criteria in the Mental Health Act in a psychiatric facility/hospital for up to 72 hours.
