All of these are made up of cells.
What are living things?
100
Not all cells are the same. Plant cells are different than animal cells and plant cells in a root are different to those in the stem or in this part. They sure make pretty colors in the fall.
What is a leaf?
100
An animal cell that lives on its own, without other cells is called this.
What is a single-celled animal?
100
This means that the work of keeping an organism alive is divided among the different parts of the body. As each part does its special job, it works in harmony with all the other parts.
What is division of labor?
100
Tissues are further organized into these, which are the third level of organization in living things. They are groups of different tissues that work together.
What are organs?
200
Each cell is a sort of bag made from a sort of skin called this.
What is a membrane?
200
Cells are the units which all organisms are made from. Different cells do different things. Some organisms consist of only one cell, like an amoeba or one of these nasty little things that can cause disease or sickness.
What is bacteria?
200
A single celled plant, such as an algae, is a plant cell that lives on its own. It does not need to be part of larger plant structure. Algae always lives in this. I guess it likes to swim:)
What is water?

The arrangement of specialized parts within a living thing is sometimes referred to as levels of organization. These of course, are the first level of organization.
What are cells?

This organ is made up of muscle tissue, blood tissue, and nerve tissue. You may not know it's a muscle, but with all that pumping, it sure gets a workout.
What is the heart?
300
The inside of a cell is watery and jelly-like. A lot like this jiggly dessert that's made with water.
What is Jell-O.
300
Complex organisms, (for instance, humans) are made up of lots of different types of cells. For example, these types of cells are long and fat and work together in bundles to let us move about. That reminds me, I better head to the gym!
What are muscle cells?
300
New cells come from old cells. When an animal cell or a plant cell divides into two, it is called this.
What is cell division?
300
In any multicellular organism, cells rarely work alone. Cells that are similar in structure and function are usually joined together to form these. And no, you can't blow your nose in them!
What are tissues?
300
This is a group of organs working together to perform a specific function for an organism.
What is an organ system?
400
Cells are very small - you can't see them just using your eyes. You need to use one of these. Better head to a laboratory.
What is a microscope?
400
These types of cells are flat and fit together like a jigsaw puzzle that covers our bodies. Thank goodness all the pieces fit just right!
What are skin cells?
400
When cell division occurs, the two new cells are exactly the same as the original cell. The two new cells are called this.
What are daughter cells?
400
This strong solid tissue gives you shape and support. Without it, you'd fall to the ground! You x-rays would be lame too.
What is bone tissue?
400
You are one of these. Dogs, trees, and butter cups are also one of these. It is an entire living thing that carries out all the basic life functions and it is the fifth level of organization.
What is an organism?
500
If a cell is cut in half, it will not survive. So a cell can be considered to be the smallest part of one of these that can survive on its own.
What is an organism?
500
These types of cells are long and thin and can carry messages from one place to another. Especially in your brain. Please don't get on mine when I'm in a bad mood.
What are nerve cells?
500
All cells contain deoxyribonucleic acid, which is the material that carries all the information about how a living thing will look and function. You know, like your genes. You know it as this.
What is DNA?
500
This liquid tissue is responsible for transporting food and oxygen throughout the body. Vampires love it too!
What is blood tissue?
500
This is the correct order of levels of organization within an organism.
What is 1) cells, 2) tissues, 3) organs, 4) organ systems and 5) organisms?
