An IEP for a Special Education student will substitute for an AIP in Reading and/or Math.
True - if a student has an IEP goal in Reading, the IEP will take the place of an AIP in Reading for that student. If a student has an IEP goal in Math, the IEP will take the place of an AIP in Math for that student. However, if a student has an IEP in Reading but qualifies for an AIP in Math, an AIP will have to be written for this student in math. And, if a student has an IEP in Math but qualifies for an AIP in Reading, an AIP will have to be written for this student in Reading.

This year Manzano Mesa has their own new and improved AIP form that we will use instead of the district form.
True - a new form has been developed which has enough room for all your data for the entire year so you won't have to upload multiple forms at the end of the year.
100
Completed AIPS are due on the last day of school.
False - AIPs are due by Friday, May 18.

Teachers should use Research-based interventions and models for the student's AIPs.
True - this is what is recommended. Sample Interventions for Reading and Math are available at www.aps.edu/assessment/aip.

An AIP is a Tier II plan of intervention.
FALSE IN BIG CAPITAL LETTERS! An AIP is a Tier I classroom intervention plan. The AIP DOES NOT END if the student moves to Tier II. The classroom teacher must continue documenting and collecting data for the AIP until the end of the school year. Many students who have an AIP do not necessarily proceed through the SAT process if the classroom interventions are successful.
200
Students in grades 1 -3 qualify for an AIP in Reading if their Spring 2017 Istation overall score was Tier 2 or Tier 3. Students in grades 4 - 5 qualify for an AIP in Reading if their Spring 2017 PARCC Scaled Score in Reading was below 712.
True

Susan will send the new AIP form to everyone.
False - it is uploaded in the Manzano Mesa Google Docs folder in the RTI/SAT subfolder. If you have a student that needs an AIP in Reading and Math, you can use the same document to capture data for both areas. PLEASE make sure you download the document(s), save them to your hard drive, and fill them out within the WORD program and NOT in Google Docs.
200
A copy of the AIP should be placed in the student's cumulative folder at the end of the school year.
True - make a copy of each student's AIP and place it in the student's cumulative folder before the last day of school.
200
A teacher should not use the resources in Istation for AIP interventions.
False - these are a great resource to use for a student that has an AIP in Reading
300
Kindergarten students are eligible for an AIP.
True - Kindergarten students who are not academically proficient should be placed on a CIP as best practice and then later to an AIP if referred to SAT. However, AIP's are not required by law for Kindergarten students.
300
All students scoring a 1 on any Stepping Stones Post-Test Module Assessment qualify for an AIP in Math.
False - Students in grades 4 - 5 qualify for an AIP in Math if their Spring 2017 PARCC scaled score was below 712. Students in grades 1 -5 would also qualify for an AIP in Math if their teacher feels they need an AIP based on the student's Quarterly Assessment data and/or the teacher's professional judgement leads them to this decision.
300
A teacher can create a single AIP that will meet the needs of several students in the class.
True - you will have to document individual student data on separate forms for each student, but you can create an intervention that would be appropriate for more than one student.
300
A student's AIP must be uploaded to the Documents section of that student's Synergy section by the end of the school year.
True - Last year Peggy had to do this as the system would not allow teachers to do this. I think this has been fixed for this year. Directions are included in your folder. They can also be found at www.aps.edu/assessment/aip
300
Teachers need to save each student's AIP on their hard drive.
True - use a consistent naming convention when saving the files for example: Student Name, Content Area, Area of Concern (Ben Dover, Reading, Fluency) or (Jed I. Knight, Math, Counting)
400
Parent signatures are now required for all AIPs.
False - but parents should be notified that you have created an AIP for their child. Conferences with parents regarding AIPs are encouraged.
400
Each teacher will need to go to Versifit and run a report for their class to determine who qualifies for an AIP.
False - Susan will give you this data when we finish this game.
400
A Classroom Intervention Plan (CIP) can be turned into an AIP.
True - if you started a CIP for a student prior to today, you can use that data on the student's AIP. Just copy and paste that data into our AIP form for that student.
400
I shouldn't tell next year's teacher that they have student(s) in their class that had AIPs while they were in my class because this is confidential information.
False - please talk to next year's teachers at the beginning of the year about students that had AIPs. These are students that next year's teacher will want to keep an eye on to determine if a SAT meeting might be appropriate.
400
Teachers should keep the same intervention strategy throughout the entire AIP process.
False - Teachers should monitor a student's progress using the identified intervention and evaluate for adequate progress every 6 weeks. If the intervention is working, but proficiency has not yet been attained, the intervention strategy can stay in place for another 6 weeks. If little or no progress has been made, the teacher should consider replacing the intervention strategy with a different strategy.
500
AIPs should be written by December of every school year.
False - beginning in the 2017-2018 school year AIPs should be written with data documentation in progress by the end of the second grading period.
500
If a student's name is not on my eligibility list because they didn't go to school here last year, or they opted out of PARCC, or there is no data for them from last year, they do not qualify for an AIP.
False - a teacher can write an AIP for any student. A teacher can use current data from Stepping Stones Quarterly Assessments, Istation Scores, Classroom Assessments, student grades, and/or performance to determine eligibility.
500
All teachers and administrators have access to every student's AIP form after it is attached in Synergy.
False - only teachers and administrators assigned to that student in Synergy have access to the AIP record.
500
After a teacher has put a copy of the AIP in the student's cumulative folder, uploaded the AIP to the document section of that student's record in Synergy, and sent a copy of the AIP to Peggy, they can kiss AIPs goodbye for that school year.
TRUE - BUT, that doesn't necessarily mean the RTI process is completed for that student - refer to the handout titled "2017-18 Academic Improvement Plan (AIP) Process and Guidelines"
500
A student can be referred to SAT if the AIP process is not working.
True - but just remember the AIP must continue until the end of the year even if the student is placed in a Tier II program.
