What is the difference between Quantitative vs Qualitative Data? Give 2 examples for each.

Quantitative data: Refers to data that is numerical and can be counted. Examples: Numbers of rainfall in a year, Number of sports teams etc.

Qualitative data: Refers to data that is non-numerical can be organized in categories. Examples favourite books, eye colour

What is a bar graph? What is it used for?

Bar graphs are used to compare things between different groups. They are used in everyday life to show things such as sales or preference.

100

Give me an example of a Qualitative research question and a Quantitative research question.

Example

Qualitative - What is your favourite genre of book?

Quantitative- How many tickets were sold at the drive-in theatre every day for the past month?

What is Sampling?

Sampling refers to gathering information by using a portion of a population.

What is the difference between continuous and discrete data? Give 2 examples for each.

Discrete data: Refers to a type of data that can only take on a certain value. Example Number of students or number rolled on a dice.

Continuous data: Refers to the type of data that can take on any value within a range. Example persons height or time in a race.

200

Draw what is a line graph would look like. What do they show? Give 2 examples

Line graphs are best used to compare change over time. Examples time spent playing outside throughout the week and the amount of rain in Brampton over a period of 6 months

True or False:

You multiply 365 by the decimal to get the degree for a circle graph?

False:

You multiply the decimal by 360

Name the three types of sampling.

Simple Random Sampling, Stratified Random Sampling, Systematic Random Sampling

What is the difference between primary and Secondary data? Give 2 examples for each.

Primary data: refers to a type of data that is collected first hand. Example observations from interviews or surveys collected from the researcher.

Secondary data: Refers to the data that is analyzed and interpreted and was collected by someone else. Example Sport Stats or Weather stats

How do you create a circle graph?

Name the steps.

Step 1: make sure the frequency chart is completed with total and decimals as well as degrees for each category.

Step 2: use a protractor to draw out the circle making sure it is even

Step 3: Using the degrees you calculated and your protractor begin to draw out your sections

Explain and give an example for each sampling technique

Random sampling- picking names out of a hat at random

Stratified random sampling is when a population is divided into smaller groups with specific characteristics and then randomly sampled from there

Systematic Sampling is when the population is organized in a certain way and organized who will be asked for example. Organized alphabetically and every third person from that list will be asked
