What is Self-Regulation?

Self Regulation is the process of monitoring YOUR own thoughts, behaviours, as well as feelings. It is the ability to understand things and REGULATE your reactions to strong emotions.

How to Show Self-Regulation inside of school! 

- The first way that we can demonstrate self regulation at school is using an online or paper calendar to be more organised during each class.

- The second way we can demonstrate self regulation is I do my homework on time.

- The third way we can demonstrate self regulation is by arriving to class on time.

- The fourth way we can demonstrate self regulation is by listening to my teachers during class and at recess. 

- The fifth way we can demonstrate self regulation is by respecting everyone no matter what.

Why is Self-Regulation important to our learning both IN and OUT of School?

In School- Aids in developing a skill set driven toward actions of self-regulation. Self Regulation is partially showing initiative like setting goals and managing your progress. 

Out of School- Shows your reflection of learning outside of school. Regulating your emotions is an critical factor in getting jobs when you grow older and succession in the outside world.

What should you do when you act IMPULSIVE to strong emotions?

When being angry or pressed about a certain person or item, it is always good to calm down and take the time. When your friend snitches on you, it is good to accept that you made a mistake and you should REGULATE yourself into bettering yourself for the future and not dwelling on the past.

What shouldn't you do when you act IMPULSIVE to strong emotions?

The WORST thing to do when somebody is acting of aggression is to instigate our pick on them furthurmore. In the grand scheme of things, you should never add fuel to the flame or the fire will expand. As demonstrated in our PowerPoint, the last thing to do as an example is to snitch on somebody when they are angry and or showing signs of hostility or anger.
