What is going on before the text?

Before the text the woman is being persecuted by the pharasis. They are trying to bring charges against Jesus, and they’re using this woman to do this. They ask Jesus if they should stone her to death, because that’s what it says to do in the law. Jesus ask them if they’ve sinned.
