What type of thinking is coming up with a theme? (literal, inferential, or critical)

Critical.

It goes beyond just making guesses and assumptions about the story, and thinks about how the story applies to you and the rest of the world.

100

What type of thinking is summarizing? (literal, inferential, or critical)

Literal.

You are repeating the events that happened in the story literally (although you may include an inference in there once in a while, like assuming/guessing what the character wanted).

If I were Harry, I would've felt the same way when I heard the parrot say, "Where's Harry? Miss him!" I'm not as close with my dad as Harry was, but I still would be sad and kind of surprised to hear that.
