Snow Problem
Your neighbor broke their foot. It is going to snow over 6 inches tonight. What should you do?
1. Problem: Your neighbor will not be able to shovel his driveway and sidewalks.
2. Solution: offer to shovel for them
You were using your cell phone to ask your mom to pick you up from the mall since you were holiday shopping. Your cell phone died. What would you do/say?
1. Problem: you cannot use your phone to get a hold of your mom
2. Solutions: ask a friend/ ask the store if you can use their phone to call your mom
Should you ask a stranger to borrow their phone? Why or why not?
Julia is invited to two parties on the same night at the same time. What should she do/say?
1. Problem: she cannot be in two places at once!
2. Solution: go to the party she was invited to first. If the parties are close, she should tell the host she was invited to two parties and stay at each party for the same amount of time. Tell the host her plan for the evening.
You always get cold waiting for the school bus in the winter. Sometimes it is even snowing! You want to be more comfortable in the mornings.
1. Problem: you are cold waiting for your bus
2. Solution: make sure you wear layers, wear a hat/glove, scarf.
You are holiday shopping at the mall when you suddenly realize that you misplaced your purse/wallet. What should you do?
1. Problem: no money or identification.
2. Solutions: retrace your steps, ask a store worker if someone turned it in, alert any banks about your lost cards.
You know that your friend really loves video games, but you would like to buy them something for Christmas and think he should have action figures because you like them. Why could this be a problem? What should you do?
1. Problem: you are not thinking of your friend's interests and getting them something you like instead of what they like.
2. Solution: find something that you think they would like that involves video games. Maybe a video game shirt.
A strong draft of cold air is coming in through the crack underneath the front door. It is so chilly, and your heat is turned all the way up! You want to stop the cold air from coming in right away.
1. Problem: your house is getting cold
2. Solution: put a towel/blanket in front of the door crack.
You are just coming home from holiday shopping and your friend drops you off at your house. You realize that you misplaced your house keys and it is cold out. What should you do?
1. Problem: you are locked out in the cold
2. Solutions: Call a parent or someone with a key/ Ask your friend if you can wait at their house until you can get into your house.
BONUS 10 points: Why is it always a good idea to make sure your friend gets safely inside their home after dropping them off and then leaving?
You brought a gift over to your friend's house. Your friend does not have a gift for you. What do you do/say?
1. Problem: Your friend may feel bad for not giving you a gift.
2. Solution: Tell them "Merry Christmas" and give them the gift.
BONUS 10 points: What if the opposite happened and your friend gave you a gift and you didn't have anything for them. What would you do?
The snowplow pushed lots of snow to the end of your driveway. Now, your mom won’t be able to pull into the driveway when she gets home from work.
1. Problem: There is a lot of snow blocking your driveway
2. Solution: Shovel the snow so your mom can park her car when she gets home.
You are buying a gift for one of your friends but forgot about the sales tax and now you do not have enough money. What should you do or say to the cashier?
1. Problem: you cannot buy your friends gift
2. Solutions: Say you did not bring enough money with you/ ask them to hold on to it until you can come back with more money/ find a gift that is less expensive to give to your friend.
BONUS 10 points: If you return back to the store and if they held the item for you, what should you do/say?
You bought tickets to a holiday concert event with one of your best friends. When you get to your seat, you realize that someone is sitting in it. What should you do?
1. Problem: Someone is in the wrong seat
2. Solutions: double check your ticket to make sure you have the correct seat then show them your ticket saying that they are in your seat.
