1. Congestive Heart Failure - increased after load -> LV hypertrophy/fibrosis -> impaired BF from heart -> decreased perfusion & blood backs up into lungs

2. Injury to endothelium -> atherosclerosis

3. Retinopathy - damage to microvasculature
