Summarize the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus: Luke 16: 19-31

This Gospel reading tells a story about the lack of compassion and its consequences. While living on earth, the rich man lived a comfortable life filled with riches, food, and clothing. The hardness of the rich man's heart deprived Lazarus, a poor man, of the right to food. After they both passed from this world, Lazarus was in heaven, while the rich man was sent to the netherworld. The rich man asked Abraham, who was next to Lazarus, for water as he was being tormented. Abraham responded by bringing up the rich man's unwillingness to help Lazarus, who was tortured by hunger on Earth, and that the rich man was warned by Moses and the Prophets on what to do to get to heaven.
