Report the situation if there is no immediate risk to the young person report the issues to the department of community and justice or a child safety officer should you feel the situation is more serious.

What are some indicators of Abuse?
- unexplained injuries, bruises, cuts, burns ect
- poor hygiene, eg dirty clothes, unbrushed hair,
- malnutrition, obvious signs that the Cadet is not getting the proper nutrition to thrive
- Emotional distress, the Cadet is expressing clear signs of being afraid or not wanting to go home.
Ask if their parents are able to wait with them, if not call another st john member or adult on your phone until another team member arrives.
