The Skating Pin by Alicia Skelton Maggie paced back and forth. Her palms were sweating, and her legs were shaking. She was so nervous. How was she going to remember how to skate? It was her very first ice skating competition, and Maggie could barely speak. Maggie's ice skating coach was trying to help Maggie relax. "I remember my very first competition," Coach Kim told Maggie. "Were you as nervous as me?" Maggie asked through chattering teeth. "I think I may have been even more nervous than you," Coach Kim said with a smile, "But my coach talked to me before I got on the ice, and she gave me something special. She gave me a special pin because she believed in me." Coach Kim reached into her pocket and pulled out an ice skater pin. It was the same pin that her coach had given her.
