What is labeling theory? What is one critique?

The labels society assigns to individuals can influence their behavior. For example, if someone is labelled as a criminal others will expect them to be a criminal. This stigmatization and discrimination leads to the individual to fulfill this label because everyone expects that of them. Critique: this is deterministic, it over simplifies people's choices and actions.

What is Symbolic Interactionism? What is one critique? 

Focuses on how people create and interpret words, gestures, images and objects (also known as symbols) to communicate and give meaning to their social interactions. Critique: cannot predict behaviour or accurate for groups

It is the element morphing into the nature of cultural influence. This means the element influences actions, choices, institutions and social roles.

What is a positive of the Indigenous/Settler power dynamic? Settlers are oppressing, erasing culture, enacting violence against Indigenous people. 

A more cohesive Canadian culture because Indigenous people don't get to hold onto their culture. 

NOTE: I know this is horrible but that's how people that want this power dynamic think about it.
