Explain the Treaty of Versailles, who was punished and how did it lead to the start of WWII.
The Treaty of Versailles marked the end of WWI. The Allied Powers are victorious and are able to decide what takes place in post war Europe. The Treaty of Versailles is a meeting in France that decided the fate of Germany after the war. Germany was forced to pay billions of dollars in war reparations and accept responsibility for starting WWI. They lost territory and their military was stripped down as well. This caused the German economy to sink to an all time low. Germany was bitter about the way they were treated and Adolf Hitler seized the opportunity to take power because the economy and people of Germany were desperate.
