Pacific Ocean provided food, the land had plenty of plant life, trees for shelter, and the marine climate was less harsh than other places.

What was the biggest impact Missionaries, fur traders, and early pioneers had on Native people?

They brought diseases such as small pox, measles, cholera, the flu, and malaria. The tribal people did not have immunity to these diseases and many tribes were wiped out by death.

What is one difference between a territory and a state?

People in a territory can vote for representatives to send to Congress, but the representative cannot vote in Congress. Officials and judges are appointed by the president, the people in the territory do not vote for them.
