Recall the political cartoon that we looked at when we started learning about the causes of WWII.
Explain what Hitler was doing in the cartoon, what the other countries were doing, and how this showed Hitler breaking the Treaty of Versailles.
Hiter was climbing along the backs of the spineless leaders. These leaders were from all the other countries. They were hunched over because in reality they were not standing up to Hitler. He was able to easily walk all over them on his rise to power. This is shown in how the stack of people gets higher and higher. He is making a silly face at them to essentially say "HA HA you can't stop me!" The men that he has stepped on represent the countries that he took over. The other men have ? on their backs because you do not know what Hitler might try to do next.
