What is WP Engine?
We are a fully managed web host exclusive to WordPress. We make it easy for you to focus on the design and develop your site, while we manage the backend - such as security protection, automatic daily backups, caching, 24/7 Support, and core WordPress updates. We also include developer tools, the Genesis framework, StudioPress themes, SSL certificates and CDN at no additional cost.
Can I sign up with PayPal?
We only accept debit and credit card payments. We do not accept PayPal as an option for payment when setting up an account.
What servers do you use?
We utilize Google Cloud and AWS for our infrastructure.

What is Global Edge Security (GES)?
Global Edge Security is an offering we developed through our partnership with Cloudflare. GES provides robust security and performance by providing managed Web Application Firewalls (WAF), advanced DDoS mitigation, SSL encryption at the edge, and full page CDN.
Will you migrate my site to your platform from my current host?
We make the move very easy and seamless with our free migration plugin. You simply install it, enter our credentials, and then it's one click to move your sites over to us.
Our technical support team will do the migration from one account to a new account or one server to a new server.

Do you offer any free trials?
We have a 60 day risk free trial where you can sign up for one of our shared plans, and if you are unsatisfied with our service within those 60 days, you can cancel your account for a full refund.
What's the difference between a shared and dedicated environment?
A shared environment means you're sharing space on a server with other WP Engine customers, meaning you could be impacted by your neighbors sharing resources. On a dedicated environment, you will have your own server and resources allocated to you and your site(s).
What is your uptime guarantee?
Our uptime guarantee is 99.95% for shared and 99.99% for dedicated
How much does GES cost?
Global Edge Security is available as an add-on for both our shared and dedicated plans.

Will you guys be able to design my website?
We only focus on the backend of your site, while you focus on the content design and development. We will handle the WordPress core updates for you and make it easy for you to update your themes and plugins through the WordPress repository.
How can I access Billing?
Why is there no phone line for Billing?
Billing can be contacted via email by emailing them at billing@wpengine.com or opening a chat with them within your User Portal (limited hours).
We do not offer a direct line to our billing team because we like to keep a paper trail of all conversations so that all of our bases are covered if there is any conflict.
Is there a difference in speed between shared and dedicated?
Yes- our customers on our dedicated solutions see around a 40% improvement in performance.
What is CDN?
Content Delivery Network will pull your static content from our server and cache it with the CDN servers. When someone visits your site, the dynamic content or pages will serve from our server, and static content will serve from the CDN server geographically closest or fastest for the visitor to increase site render time. Generally, this results in faster render time.
What is SSL?
SSL (secure socket layer) enables your browser to establish a safe connection between itself and a particular website or server by encrypting the data.
Why is WP Engine so expensive?
First say - "I could give many reasons why WP Engine stands out amongst our competitors, but may I ask what is most important to you in a hosting provider?"

What is the Agency Partner Program (APP)?
The WP Engine Agency Program provides educational and financial benefits to agencies.
There are three program levels: Member, Advanced and Strategic, where agencies can grow their benefits as their revenue grows from referred business. This program is for agencies of all sizes from freelancers to large conglomerates.
Do you offer redundant solutions?
Yes. Our dedicated solutions offer varying levels of redundancy and high availability.
What kind of caching do you use?
WP Engine built a proprietary caching technology called EverCache. EverCache is a collection of open source technologies intended to provide ideal performance and scale.
Do you offer SSL certificates?
Yes, we offer SSL certificates from Let's Encrypt and RapidSSL. We make adding an SSL certificate to a site as easy as a few button clicks within our User Portal.
How do you compare to other web hosting companies: GoDaddy, BlueHost, Hostgator or Kinsta, Pagely, Pantheon?
First ask - I can give many reasons as to why we stand out compared to ______, but may I ask why you are looking for a new host? Or what is important to you in a hosting provider?
It really depends on what type of solution you're trying to solve for. Other general hosting companies are all about discount pricing, at scale. Whereas, WP Engine is a much higher quality, WordPress specific service, we provide so much more value as your hosting platform.
What is the Affiliate Program?
The Affiliate Program works with individuals/companies who produce/publish content and recommend WP Engine to their visitors/audience but are normally unaware of who signed up. It's a passive relationship and tends to be more transactional and commissions driven.
Do you offer VPS solutions?
No, but WP Engine uses virtualized cloud environments on both shared and dedicated environments.

What is Application PerformanceMonitoring (APM)?
How much does APM cost?
Application Performance is an offering we developed through our partnership with New Relic. It allows your developers to troubleshoot issues quickly, and to understand if and how an issue occurs.
