What is one of the five basic commitments upon which Crossroads was built?
Academic excellence, the arts, the greater community, social/economic/racial diversity, or each student's physical well-being and full human potential.
Students are expected to demonstrate this toward members of the Crossroads community.
Respect.
This consequence removes a student from classes or activities for a serious breach of conduct or pattern of bad behavior.
Suspension.
Students who experience or witness bullying are strongly encouraged to do this.
Seek help from a trusted adult.
Students may not order this to school for delivery.
Food.
What are two skills Crossroads considers essential for all graduates?
Any two of: reading well, writing clearly/coherently, studying effectively, reasoning soundly, questioning thoughtfully.
This means taking responsibility for your actions, helping people who need support, and using good judgment.
Promoting community.
A suspended student may serve the suspension in these two places.
In school or at home.
What are two characteristics that help define bullying?
It involves a real or perceived power imbalance and is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.

Students, parents, and teachers.
What three qualities are part of developing emotional intelligence?
Self-control, self-awareness, and compassion.

They are unacceptable in any situation, on or off campus.

Repeated violation of policies

Who has the authority to dismiss a Middle School student?
The Middle School Head along with the admin team (deans, asst. head)
What is the first priority of the School when a community member reports an incident of bias?
The safety of those targeted, those reporting, and the community as a whole.
Students are responsible for doing this with their trash and food waste.
Cleaning it up and using the appropriate recycling, composting, and trash containers.
