How did WW1 effect the economy of Russia and what did this result in (how often). (4 Key answers)

The trade routes through the Baltic sea and the Black Sea were virtually cut off, leading to exports falling by 86.7% in the first full year of the war.

To combat this, inflating the amount of roubles only increased inflation further, and made food prices double and triple for bread and meat respectively.

A lack of farmers, due to their positions as soldier in the war, further exacerbated the food crisis and therefore the economic decline.

Strikes were the main result, with a total of 258 strikes in January and February with a total of 403,295 lost days of work.
