What does the photographer do?
Capture high-quality photos of school events, activities and student life.
What does the term Bleed mean?
Extension of images, graphics or backgrounds beyond the trim marks on the edges if a page leaving no white margin.
What is a font?
A set of letters, numbers, and punctuation marks and symbols that share a unified ensign called a typeface.
What is a theme?
Idea of concept threaded throughout the book unifying its parts.
What does the editor in chief do?
Lead the yearbook staff and manage all aspects of the yearbook production.
What is the design editors role?
Oversee the design and layout of the yearbook.
What does the term crop mean?
Eliminating unwanted elements in a photo, either using the camera’s viewfinder before the image is shot or using photography software afterward.
What is a body font?
Typefaces that can be used for body copy and captions.
What is a cover?
The outside of the yearbook
What is an index editor?
Organize the index section of the yearbook.
What is the photo editors role?
Manage photography team and oversee the selection and editing of all yearbook photos.
What does the term spread mean?
Two facing page designed as one unit.
What is a display font?
More decorative typefaces usually used for headlines.
What is a spine?
Backbone of a book, the narrow portion of a cover between the front and back.
What should the photographer be able to do?
Be able to work in various settings and capture candid moments.
What is the designers role?
Create page layouts and design elements for the yearbook.
What does the term style guide mean?
A set of established rules governing the production of the book so that design, fonts, colors, copy, theme, etc.
What is a type family.
All variations of a typeface in all its weights and point sizes.
What is a divider?
Pages in a yearbook that separate one section from another and provide info about sections content.
What do photo captions provide?
They provide context and add value to the photos.
What is the writers role?
Write articles, captions, and headlines for the yearbook.
What does the term resolution mean?
The number of pixels or dots that make up an image.
What is a typography?
Using elements as design for headlines, copy, captions and graphics to project a desire image.
What is a gutter?
The vertical space between the inside margins of facing pages.
