What is Jotens?
Empty space around the content, often separating or framing topics
What is White Space?
Tints and shades of the base color only.
What is a monochromatic color theme?
The subject of the photo is off-center. As if a tic-tac-toe board was placed over the frame, the subject should align with one of the four points where the lines intersect.
What is the Rule of Thirds?
hosted the morning of the first day of school for students in their last year at Thaden
What is the senior sunrise?
two pages, both left and right, often covering similar topics or events
What is a spread?
A short blurb beneath a photo or a headline to give you the gist
What is a caption?
Features the base color and its direct opposite on the color wheel.
What is a complementary color theme?
A composition technique that positions the camera so that the foreground or background objects in the picture form a natural frame around the main subject.
What is framing?
hosted in conjunction with a class of the same name, held in the fall, many vendors host tables, music and art are shared, large community event

Incorporates the base color and the two hues on either side on the color wheel
What is an adjacent/analogous color theme?
When an element in a photo is seen multiple times and works to give viewers context

What is the 8th Grade Civil Rights Tour of the South?
An alphabetical directory of every person, team, group, advertiser and topic featured in the words and photos on the pages of a yearbook.
Noticeably larger than the other photos, eye-catching, it should be two to three times larger than other page elements
What is a dominant photo?
Four colors are arranged into two complementary color pairs.
What is a double complementary color theme?
An image that captures heightened emotion to help tell the story

Family-friendly game night, numbers call called, prizes are won
What is Bingo Night?
A diagram that helps digitally organize the content of the book
What is the Page Ladder?
Large, catchy, and enhanced with color, it makes a verbal connection to the dominant photo.
What is a headline?
Uses the base color and the two hues equally spaced on the color wheel.
What is a triadic color theme?
Choosing a lens opening that produces a shallow depth of field to creatively place parts of an image out of focus, which emphasizes other parts of the image.
What is Selective Focus?
