The name of our yearbook. This has been the name of the yearbook and yearbook staff since our school opened.

What is Legacy?

A feature on the yearbook spread that tells something interesting about a student, usually related to the dominant or main photo.

What is a story?

What are cameras?

The type of journalism story that we use in the yearbook. It has a lead, quote, transition, quote, transition, quote until the story is told.

What is a Feature story?

The empty area around the spread that is not covered by photos, text or other graphic elements.

What is white space?

A document that shows exactly what fonts, font sizes, color palettes, and themes are being used in the yearbook for this year.

What is the Style Guide?

An attention-getter that appears above the story. It should be large and follow the theme.

What is the Headline?

The program you will use to rate your photos. Make sure you know which photos of yours are the best and rate them accordingly.

What is Adobe Bridge?

The beginning of a story. Usually the first or second sentence, used to draw a reader in so that they read the story.

What is the lead?

Created by the adviser and editors, organizes the yearbook to show which pages go where.

A design that goes across two pages. Nearly every set of pages in the yearbook will be one of these.

The attribution for the writer of the story. This usually goes at the beginning of a story.

The central idea or concept that guides the design, layout, and content of the yearbook.

The space at the spine of the yearbook, between the two pages of the spread. Text should never cross it and faces should never be in there.

What is the gutter?

Framing a photo with the subject to one side or another. It makes a better photo than centering them.

What is the Rule of Thirds?

Small sections of writing that go with each photo. It should have an Attention-getter, Basic Information, Complementary Information, and Direct Quote.

What is a caption?

Formed by arranging photos or other page elements to form an even band of white space used to visually link a spread and draw your eyes to the main photo.

What is an eyeline?

Student leader who teaches the staff and has final approval on the yearbook.
