A child has become ill during program time, or at the child care center 

Notify the parents 

Keep the unwell child in an area away from others 

Provide parents with information of how long their child must stay home, currently we are at 24 hours until gastro symptom/fever free, and 24 hours symptoms improving for all other symptoms

My shift has ended but there are too many children in program for me to leave 

You must stay to ensure ratios are maintained if there is no one else to cover you. We understand this is frustrating, and understand the importance of your time but we cannot leave anyone out of ratio. Please note you will be paid for your extra time

DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT - We have to ensure everything is documented, so we have examples of bx's, and strategies we have used, etc. if it comes down to a child may needing removed from program, then it is crucial that we have as documentation as possible. Do not hesitate to call us for help either

Playground checks must be completed

Prior to children playing on the playground. What does this look like for school age and child care?

A child is in the school age program, and leaves for piano. The child then returns 30 minutes later. How is this tracked

On the pink attendance mark the child in at the time they first came to program example 3:10, then out for 3:35 when they left for piano. Then back in at 4:00 when they came back, and then their out time is the time they left for the day

Beds must be place in a way that

In a way that there is a pathway for emergencies, This is tough when we have limited space, but is something to be mindful of when placing beds out. 

Also, children are to rest head to toe

At lunch and snack times where should the educator be and what should they be doing 

Sitting at the table, with the children. Role model what you are able to eat.
