Children must be signed in and out by a parents, guardian or other authorized adult. you must check identification for any individual who is picking up the children that is not readily recognizable. check the child's list of personal authorized to pick up on their health history form and confirm that individual is authorized.

Explain unauthorized pick up.
The YMCA will not release a child to any person without prior permission form the parents of guardians. If an unauthorized person shows up to pick up a child, the parent/guardian must be contacted for permission before allowing the child to leave with the individual.

What does MDSD Stand for?
MSDS stands for "material Safety Data Sheet" MSDS is a detailed information bulletin prepared by manufacturer or importer of a chemical that describes the physical and chemical properties, physical and health hazards, routes for exposure, precautions for safe handing and use, emergency and first-aid procedures, and control measures.

If 2 children are fighting over a toy how do you handle it?
The YMCA strives to maintain a positives approach to managing behavior at all times. The team members establish and enforce clean and consistent limits and expectations for appropriate behavior. Team members deal with inappropriate behavior through various techniques including; modeling, distraction, and redirection, adjusting the environment, cooperative problem solving and removal form the activity/area as a last resort. The overall safety of all children in the program is our highest priority.

Explain Medication distribution procedures.
For medical and safety reasons, YMCA team members do not administer insulin shots, Diastat or other medication requiring similar procedures. Parents/guardians MUST fill out a Medication Permission sheet, before we can distribute and medication to a child. For safety reasons, children are not allowed to carry their own medications, including aspirin, Benadryl, etc.

As kids enter the gym they should immediately start walking around the gym.

What does it mean to be a mandated reporter?
As a YMCA professional who works with children and families, you are in a key position to help protect children from harm. Any person who works with children is required to report suspected abuse. according to MN state law, anyone who works with children and/or families is considered a Mandated Reporter.

Please explain proper Fire Drill Procedures
Immediately get your group to the nearest exit and out fo the building. be certain to have roster and a walkie talkie with you to communicate with other staff. if you have a child missing notify Lead Staff/Site Director. they will check the building and make sure all children are groups are out of the building.
