How did the Penguins name originate?

The "Penguins" nickname originated from a cold January 30 night in 1933 when fans thought the team looked like penguins stomping around. The nickname was formally introduced in the campus newspaper, The Jambar, on December 15, 1933, and accepted by the student body without a formal vote.
