- Your vehicle can be seen for 60 metres (200 feet) along the roadway in both directions.

What are places where you cannot park?

You cannot do this when:

Oncoming vehicles are too close.

A solid yellow line is on your side of the centre line

A sign indicates you cannot do so.

You are in a school or playground zone during school or playground zone times

Another vehicle is stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross at a marked or unmarked crosswalk

A school bus has flashing red lights and the stop arm extended indicating the school bus has stopped.

When this starts to happen, you should keep your foot off the brake, look and steer in the direction you want to go, point the tires along the centre of your lane, and make small corrections to your steering.

These signs are typically yellow and can inform drivers of upcoming things, such as traffic control devices, hazards, or features of the road.

1) Check behind your vehicle for traffic and slow down well in advance of the space using your brakes.

2) Stop when your rear bumper is in line with the rear bumper of the front vehicle. You should leave about 1M (3 feet) between your vehicle and the front vehicle.

3) Reverse slowly about 50CM (1.5 feet) and steer sharply to the right until your vehicle is at a 45 degree angle to the curb.

4) While still reversing, straighten front wheels until the right corner of your front bumper is in line with the front vehicle.

5) Turn the wheel sharply to the left and continue to reverse until your vehicle is parallel to the curb. Your right wheels must be 50CM (1.5 feet) or less from the curb.

What are the steps to parallel parking?

When doing this, you need to:

Accelerate to the speed of traffic on the main road.

Choose a gap in traffic and adjust speed if required.

Use your signal light.

Shoulder check.

Move over to the main road when safe to do so.

These are the "times" you should be looking ahead of your vehicle when driving in urban areas and rural areas.

What is 12 to 15 seconds in urban areas, and 20 to 25 seconds in rural areas?

You must stop approximately 20 metres before these vehicles when they have red lights flashing from either direction on an undivided highway. On a divided highway, you must stop approximately 20 metres behind these vehicles, but may proceed with caution when driving toward these vehicles.

What are school busses?
