I will support your writing of the essays tons and tons! If this happens but you don't do well, I will help you rebound from that. What is one behavior regarding the essays that is not supported?
This is where you will find most of the class readings from now on.
What is the class packet? It's free, that's what!
I hope you'll want to be here every day! If something comes up, this is the greatest number of absences you can have and still have an A in Attendance.

Fire! Regular contibutions! We miss you when you're not here!
What is an A
Afterwork SWEs are due on this day
Later the same day as class!
This class supports you in almost every way! Name 3 behaviors that this class does NOT support
In addition to Language, Unit 2 is about this!
Information literacy! AKA Research
15, or half the semester
A bit hit or miss. Occasional contributions, not always based, but attentive, and overall a bright spot in class interactions. (The grade depends on frequency of this.)
What is B-range (fair)
This is how you turn in SWEs
On the class Canvas page!
This is where you find the Turnitin portals for outside-class writings (short writing exercises and essays)
What is the class Canvas page
For an absence to be excused (meaning it doesn't count as an absence), it needs one of these two things
Medical documentation or a university reason
“Present,” though I might not know the sound of your voice by the end of the semester. Zero light or dark emanates from the chair in which you sit.
What is a C
What is bullshit, Alex?
This is how you turn in short writing assignments and essays.
What is Turnitin!
This is the non-passing range of absences
9 and greater
Not passing. This unfortunate grade results from some combination of inattentiveness, being distracted and distracting, and disruptive (which means I have to interrupt class to tell you throughout the semester to get off your phone even though you think you so sly, or to stop talking while others are talking cuz that ain’t nice)
D-range (sus!)
You can totally use AI to bust the SWEs out
Uh no. I mean, What is, uh no? That be cheating, y'all. Work that college students turn in must be original to them, not to another person or entity
These are the 5 graded (and lived!) elements of this class.
What are: 1) Showing up (attendance); 2) joining in (participation); 3) taking notes (notebooks); 4) writing short writing exercises; 5) writing two essays.
This happens every other Thursday.
What is an asynchronous class?
Students sometimes show up but come late, leave early, and dip mid-class. This is how that appears in Attendance
They are each partial absences that add up to full absences
This is for students who detract the learning environment. No one wants this: not you, not your fellow classmates, and not me! In fact, I’ll probably have to be addressing this in a disciplinary fashion during the semester.
Yeah, no. I mean, F. No one can get to this, actually, because something else will have to happen first. Knowumsayne?
SWEs are graded based on how many are fully completed. (See the Rubric for that.) But this number are mandatory.
