A vignette is a short and descriptive piece of writing that captures a brief period in time. Vignettes are more focused on vivid imagery and meaning rather than plot. Explain the significance of the quote" “When I am too sad and too skinny to keep keeping, when I am a tiny thing against so many bricks, then it is I look at trees. When there is nothing left to look at on this street. Four who grew despite concrete" (Cisneros, 75).
Esperanza feels as though she too, is a tree in concrete. She is living in a place that is not comfortable and not suitable for growth. Yet, she still strives to be like the trees that grow despite their unfortunate environment. She knows in her heart that she will leave Mango Street.
