What does the triplet contain?
A literary selection (short story of chapter from a novel) + An expository selection (an essay or a magazine article) + a visual (an advertisement, a Web page, or a cartoon)

What type of essay will you write on the TAKS Writing Test & what possible scores can you receive?
You will write a personal narrative. (Tell us a story) It doesn't have to be true, but it needs to be believable. You can receive a score from 0-4.

What is a trick of when to use "who" or "whom"?
Substitute the word "he" for "who". Substitute the word "him" for "whom".

How many lines to do you get on the crossover question? AND In order to score a 2 on the crossover short answer question, what do you need to make sure that you do?
There are 8 lines on the crossover question. To get a 2, you must answer the question, prove it with evidence from BOTH selections, and then explain it.

What are the resources that you can use on the exam?
You can use a dictionary, thesaurus on the writing and reading sections, and a highlighter throughout.

There are three short answer questions on the TRIPLET. One over the first selection. One over the selection selection. One crossover over both of the selections. I have been taught to: Answer the Question, Prove it (Using Quote(s), and Explain.

They give you three blank pages for prewriting. I have been taught to brainstorm and draft a story there.

What score would this response receive as a short answer? Explain why. Even if not in the traditional sense of "novelist," Hurley has fulfilled his dream. By sitting on the sidewalk and waiting for his stories to walk up to him, Hurley defines being a novelist in a new way. He writes, "the entire direction of my life veered off road. I had no idea what I had discovered...but I could see that it worked.
This would score a 2 because he answered the question and proved it with a quote.
