HAVA

Act passed by the U.S. Congress in 2002 to make sweeping reforms to the nation’s voting process. HAVA addresses improvements to voting systems and voter access that were identified following the 2000 election. Registrants that receive HAVA notices have to complete a verification form sent via physical mail to be added to the rolls.

Book-closing is the process of closing our voter registration drive during the final few days before the deadline. Book closing day is the deadline for changes to the rolls (i.e. “books”) in preparation for an election. It is the last day to submit voter registration forms.
