Our planets
100

What are the two factors that affect gravitational force?

Mass and Distance

100

What is Mrs. Oreto's dogs name?

Olliver James Oreto

100

An object in motion will stay in motion unless another force is acted upon it.

An object at rest will stay at rest unless another force is acted upon it.

Inertia

100

What separates the inner and outer planets?

Asteroid Belt

200

What happens as I decrease the distance between the Earth and the moon?

The gravitational force will increase between the moon and the Earth.

200

What is Mrs.Oreo's favorite dinosour?

Velociraptor

200

A huge group of single stars, star systems, star clusters, dust and gas bound together by gravity.

Galaxy

200

what is the 5th planet in our solar system?

Jupiter

300

What two factors keep the earth in orbit constantly moving around the sun?

Gravity and Inertia

300

What is one of Mrs.Oreto's favorite Disney movies?

Tangled, Up, Wall-E

300

Model and Scale Model

a simplified version of an object, event, or process.

a representation or copy of an object that is larger or smaller than the actual size of the object being represented.

300

is it possible for you (or anyone) to draw a scale model of our solar system?

NO! It is nearly impossible to create a scale model of our solar system.

400

What can raise or lower the gravitational force of a planet?

Mass

400

How old was Mrs.Oreto when she first started working for a school district?

16! I worked at a before and after school program like adventure club.

400

Revolution and Rotate

(Must also show me)

The movement of an object around another object.

The spinning motion of a planet on its axis.

400

List 3 differences between the inner and the outer planets.

inner:

Rock, Smaller, Closer together

Outer:

Gas, Bigger, Further apart

500

What would happen if the sun were to decrease in mass?

There would not be enough gravitational force to keep planets in orbit. Some would fly off in a straight line into space due to their inertia and no force being acted upon them.

500

What did Mrs.Oreto eat for diner last night?

Pizza and ice cream.

500

Mass vs Weight

the amount of matter in an object

the amount of force needed to pull the object to the ground.

500

Why is Pluto no longer considered a planet.

(Not on the test just for fun)

Planets must: Orbit the Sun, have enough gravity to be round, and be able to clear other objects out of its path.

Pluto can not clear objects and has been pushed out of orbit before due to this.
