What led to stocks crashing and how did that eventually lead to the Great Depression and banks failing (in terms of stocks)? Explain in a cause and effect format.

The high amount of stock speculation and borrowing money to buy stocks, as well as fears of investors, led to stocks crashing. Stocks crashing meant that companies were losing money, and so did investors. Investors couldn't pay banks back, so banks had to close. Since companies didn't have enough money to pay wage, they had to lay off workers, which also caused mass unemployment. All of this eventually led to the Great Depression.
