The Ministry of Truth: at work, they constantly tell lies and destroy the truth.
Why is it important that Winston remembers things and says he cannot feel emotions? For example, the loss of his family or who they are actually at war with.
Remembering reveals his individual identity and his ability to recall the truth despite it being erased and changed by the Party.
We see internal conflict within Winston as he is conflicted about his personal beliefs and trusting the Party.
We also see how much power the Party has over not only thoughts, actions, and beliefs, but even emotions.

Doublethink = thinking two ideas at once, even if they do not agree with each other.
