I forgot how to get to my class.  What can I do?

Just ask any adult for help and they will make sure you get to the correct class room.

When I have leftover milk or juice from breakfast, I should just throw it in the trashcan.  Correct?

No.  Never throw your leftover milk or juice in the trashcans.  This can make a big mess!  Leftover milk and juice should be carefully poured into the toilet to be disposed of.

It's okay if I just leave the jump rope or soccer ball here in the grass when the whistle blows to line up.

When it is time to line up, good Riders return all recess equipment to the cart so it's ready for the next class to use.

We're hungry, so it's okay to crowd around in a big bunch or cut in front of someone to get a lunch tray.

Wrong.  The lunch line is just like your classroom line. Good Riders respect everyone's personal space, keep their hands to themselves, and use their inside voices when in the lunch line.

I forgot something in the classroom (jacket, lunchbox, Wednesday folder) but I need to get on the bus!  What should I do?

Don't worry about it.  It will be waiting for you tomorrow.  There is not enough time to try to go back for it now.

When coming into the school, I should keep my hands and feet to...

Myself.

Respect everyone's personal space by always keeping your hands and feet to yourself.

Is it okay to throw my breakfast trash and leftover food in the classroom trashcan?

No.  All leftover food and breakfast trash such as wrappers, should be disposed of in the hall trash cans only.  Never put these things in the classroom trash.

200

It's okay to be noisy when coming into the building from recess.

No.  When you are returning to the building from recess voices are off because other classes are still trying to learn.

200

I forgot something I need for my lunch (my napkin, fork, ketchup, etc.).   What should I do?

Raise your hand and explain what you need to the lunch room helpers.  Never just get out of your seat without asking for help first.

I'm a car rider so it's a good time for me to talk to my friends when we are sitting and waiting for our number to be called.

Wrong.  Car riders need to listen carefully so they hear their number when it is called.  If you are talking, you might miss your number or distract someone else from hearing theirs.

True or False:  When I enter my classroom, I should first unpack and put my things away then get my breakfast.

True.  Leader In Me Habit 3 says "Put First Things First."  You should always unpack and put your things out of the way before you get your breakfast.

Breakfast time is a great time to walk around and socialize with my friends.  Correct?

No.  Breakfast time is time devoted to getting a nourishing breakfast and you should use that time for eating and cleaning up so you are ready to have a great day of learning.

I really want to play with the hula hoop but their all taken.  What is the best way to handle this problem?

You can try asking someone to let you know when they are done with the hula hoop so you can use it.

You can find something else to play with.

You can ask them if you can play with them by taking turns.

True or False:  When sitting and eating with my friends in the cafeteria, I should keep my voice loud enough so that only the friend sitting next to me or across from me can hear it.

True:  The cafeteria can become too noisy if everyone is talking loudly.  We should all try to be mindful of our volume and never get too loud or try to talk to someone at another table.

It's the end of the day!   Woo Hoo!!!  Now my friends and I can finally get loud and crazy while we wait for our bus or car tag color to be called!

At the end of the day, teachers need to be able to hear the announcements of car rider numbers, bus and shuttle numbers, and walkers so they can make sure everyone gets dismissed correctly.  For this reason, we need to be mindful of our noise level even at the end of the day.
