Full-time employees, starting before January 1st, are allotted this many days of total paid sick leave days per fiscal year.

What is a flexible spending account or section 125 plan?
One can ask themselves this question when contemplating acceptable and/or unacceptable behaviors as it relates to your conduct with students.

What is child abuse and neglect?
As a member of the KIPP DC team, an employee may be photographed, videotaped, or interviewed as part of our marketing campaign. This is one of the steps you would take if you did not feel comfortable with this exposure.

One of the specific dates listed as an essential workday where school staff are required to be present at work to ensure safe student supervision, appropriate, support for staff, appropriate staff development, and successful school operations.

Full-time employees summoned for jury duty or subpoenaed to testify as a witness (in a matter that is not connected to your employment with KIPP DC) will be granted the time off with proper documentation, and receive up to this many days of full salary.
What is up to ten business days of jury or witness duty?
Staff, chaperones, and volunteers are prohibited from transporting students in what manner except in cases of extreme emergency as approved by your SL.
What is private motor vehicle?
One of the nine listed types of danger that must be reported by KIPP DC employees if you know or have reasonable cause to suspect is happening to a student.
1. Mentally abused or neglected;
2. Physically abused or neglected;
3. Abused as a result of inadequate care, control, or subsistence in the home environment due to exposure to drug-related activity;
4. The victim of “sexual abuse” or “attempted sexual abuse”;
5. Exposed to domestic violence;
6. Regularly exposed to illegal drug activity;
7. Assisted, supported, caused, encouraged, commanded, enabled, induced, facilitated, or permitted to become a prostitute;
8. Injured by a bullet; or
9. Injured by a knife or other sharp object by other than accidental means.
KIPP DC requires current, former or prospective employees seeking either employment verification and/or a professional reference to do so through this department.
What is the Human Resources department?
All full-time and part-time employees may receive up to ten paid bereavement days for the death of an employee’s spouse, domestic partner, or this family member.
What is child(ren)?
The number of of a full time employees ten available sick leave days that can be used in extenuating circumstances that don't include sickness (e.g., to attend a close relative’s wedding).
What is two days?
The two word title for the 20-21 addition to the handbook that addresses how staff members should communicate with students. It includes the following types of communication that are expected to be appropriate and observable: telephone, via videoconferencing, text message, e-mail, or other remote means
What is safe talk?
The KIPP DC reporting requirement which mandates that both the person who initially has the knowledge or suspicion and the school leader, supervisor or other designee, make the report.
What is dual reporting requirement?
If a student is consistently wetting themselves or infrequently using the bathroom, the school is responsible for taking what step to assist the student/family.
What is writing a toilet learning plan?
As described in the FMLA section of this Employee Handbook, KIPP DC employees are entitled to take unpaid leave for which two of the four following possible circumstances regarding parenting.
What is the birth, adoption, fostering or assumption of legal guardianship of a child?
According to the Short Term Disability and Universal Paid Leave Act, you can receive from a range of 8-11 weeks of your pay up to this capped amount per week.
What is $1,000 per week?
If students are comfortable with such touches, this is the type of hug suggested between staff and students which may be far different from those you experienced from your ECE or elementary teachers in childhood.
