What is consensus building?
Any hazard, condition or activity that could reasonably be expected to be an imminent or serious threat to the life or health of a person exposed to it before the hazard or condition can be corrected or the activity altered.
What is the definition of Danger?
Proactive tool used to examine the potential hazards of a job or a specific task that is complicated or common to many roles (e.g., employee travel).
What is job hazard analysis?
The minimum number of committee members that must be present to make the proceedings of a WPC meeting valid. The majority of committee members must be present and at least half of present members must be employee representatives.
What is the definition of quorum?
All employees have a right to take part in health and safety activities.
What is the right to participate?
- Safety pin and lock tag are in place
- Pressure gauge is in the 'green'
- There is no visible damage to the cylinder
What is the fire extinguisher inspection requirements?
- A safety moment.
- Review of any work place injuries resulting in medical treatment, modified duties or time away from work.
- Review of the most recently completed work place inspection.
- Review of applicable job hazard analyses (JHA) for any local adaptions. If the need for any changes to the JHAs are identified, contact a member of the Health & Safety team for guidance.
What are the mandatory meeting agenda items?
All employees have the opportunity to become aware of what hazards are present on the job, and how these hazards can affect them.
What is the right to know?
The inspection document that should be completed in its entirety for the applicable areas in the workplace.
What is the WJ 3330 form?
- Scheduling enough time to complete the meeting.
- Circulating the agenda beforehand to allow committee members time to prepare for productive conversation.
- Keeping the meeting focused on employee health and safety issues.
- Promoting a meeting experience where all ideas and thoughts are welcome.
- Inviting guest speakers and resource staff when appropriate.
How to hold an effective WPC meetings?
The care that a reasonable person exercises to avoid harm to other persons or their property.
What is due diligence?
Workplace injuries that occur off the aircraft are reported to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and therefore the ESDC form is used.
What is a hazard occurrence incident report?
- Original signed copies must be kept locally for a period of five (5) years; and
- Scanned copies of the signed original must be sent to mysafety@westjet.com for central retention by the Corporate Safety Services team
