Who can become a member of ICNA?
Any adult ,living in North America, regardless of race, color, ethnicity, family or gender.
Follows the Islamic way of life.

What is the prerequisite of office bearers before taking any responsibility?
To take oath .
The President and other office bearers should take their oath before assuming their responsibilities.

The president of ICNA

The Ameer / President (central , unit / region)

What means will ICNA use to attain its goal?
To attain its goal ,ICNA shall utilize only democratic, legal, and peaceful means according to the Islamic principles.

Yes , a person has to agree with the Aqeedah /creed, goal, methodology and program of ICNA.

What is the goal of ICNA ?
To seek the pleasure of Allah (swt) through the establishment of the Islamic system of life , as spelled out in the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

To keep account of income and expenditure
To prepare an annual budget and present it to shura
To present the financial statements to the MGA`s
To keep the Ameer and shura informed about the financial situation of ICNA.
To release money for a project after the approval of the Ameer
To audit the accounts of the unit / regional and subunit treasury accounts.

What does the term establishment of the Islamic system of life mean?
It means System of life . The truth revealed through Allah`s messengers which encompasses the internal, external, individual and collective aspects of human life . It should be implied sincerely & exclusively in all aspects of our life.

What is the difference between a member and MGA?
The MGA takes oath for the responsibility whereas a member does not take an oath.

What is the time period for the term of a President?
Is there any restriction on the term period?
Two years .
Yes , a person cannot be elected as the Ameer /President for the third consecutive term.

What are the fundamental principles of Election according to the Bylaws :
Secret Ballot
No canvassing ( propagating oneself or someone for the vote )
Consultation (prescribed in Quran ;3:159, for all matters )
Oath for the responsibility
No one will be elected for the same office for more than four consecutive years.

What are the sources of income for treasury?
Ayanat /Contribution from MGA`s
Ayanat /Contribution from Members
Donations from community at large
Zakat / Ushr / Sadaqat
Contributions from local units
Contributions from departments

What are the basic characteristics of ICNA`s program according to Clause 6? Mention any 3
1. Invitation: inviting mankind to submit to the creator 2. Motivation: motivating Muslims to perform their duty of being witness to mankind by their words and deeds (Quran: 2:143 3.Organization: those who agree to work for this cause in the discipline of ICNA.4. Tarbiyah : educational and training opportunities are offered to increase Islamic knowledge, enhance character, and development of skills is focused. 5. Social justice , Relief efforts ,6. Cooperating with other organizations
What is the structure of the Central organization ? Mention any 4 .
The central organization shall comprise of 6 parts.
1-The General Assembly,
2-The President
3-The Majlis Ash – shura ( consultative council)
4-The Executive Council,
5-The General Secretary
6-The heads of Central department

What are the duties of the President?
Mention any 2.
1-Place obedience and faithfulness to Allah and His Messenger (saws) above everything else.
2-Consider achieving the goal of ICNA as his primary obligation .
3-Give preference to ICNA`s interests over the personal interests.
4-Treat and command members of ICNA justly & honestly.
5-Safeguard fully the trusts handed over to him.
6-Abide by the charter and bylaws and seek to maintain proper order within ICNA.

What are the qualities of a President to be elected?
She should not desire or seek the office
-Knowledge of Quran & Sunnah
-Piety / Taqwa
-Vision & soundness of opinion
-Wisdom
-Honesty and justice
-Sacrifice and patience
-Steadfastness in the struggle for the establishment of Deen.
-Administrative skills.
Should be the member of General Assembly for 2 years*
Should be a citizen or permanent resident in USA*
