The person(s) responsible for holding a flyer in the air, typically by their feet.
What is a base?
The different ways we hold our bodies while tumbling. Hollow, lunge, superman, and candlestick are all examples of these.
What are tumbling shapes?
Our newest team program (started in 2018) that begins their season in the fall and is considered non-competitive. The Kittens and Jungle Cats were our teams this past season in this program.
What is All Star Novice?
A jump in which both legs come up in front of your body while together and straight.
What is a pike jump?
The youngest age you can be to be on an all star cheer team.
What is 3 years old?
A flyer body position in which they grab their foot or ankle with both hands, pulling it up behind their body with their foot pointing up to the ceiling.
What is a scorpion?
A tumbling skill in which an athlete starts from feet together in an athletic stance and jumps backwards rotating through a handstand position. The athlete then blocks off their hands to land back on their feet. It is the main tumbling skill in Level 2.
What is a back handspring?
The coach that has been with our program the second longest (second to Coach Amanda).
Who is Coach Mario?
The name of the upward arm motion used in our jump approach at LCC.
What is a rocket?
The time length of an All Star Prep routine, like the Cubs and Mighty Cats.
What is 2 minutes?
A stunt that is held on one leg and then the bases dip and release the flyer, and the flyer switches their weight to the other leg.
What is a tic toc?
A no handed tumbling skill first allowed in Level 4, where an athlete completes a hips over head rotation while in a stretched, hollow body.
What is a layout?
The year we became Lions Cheer Company and moved to Gymnastics Etc.
What is 2013?
When two jumps are completed one right after the other without stopping.
What is a double jump or connected jump?
The highest level in All Star cheer.
What is Level 7?
A terms that means the way to get out of a stunt. A cradle is an example of this.
What is a dismount?
The division in which the only two tumbling skills allowed are forward rolls and cartwheels.
What is Tiny Novice?
The name of our program from 2000-2013, before we were known at Lions Cheer Company.
What is Victory Academy Lions?
The amount of points that jumps is worth on a score sheet.
What is 10 points?
The class program for new all star athletes to learn the basics of the sport before joining a team. It is the first tier of All Star cheer, out of four tiers.
What is All Star FUNdamentals?
The two core areas that your stunt score is based on at a competition.
What is difficulty and execution?
The name for the factors that determine your execution score in each skill area at competition. For tumbling, they are approach, speed, body control, landings, and synchronization.
What are drivers?
The number of times we have had a team compete at the Cheerleading Worlds.
What is 5?
The jump that was invented by Lawrence Herkimer, the founder of the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA).
What is the Herkie?
The governing body of All Star Cheer that provides safety standards and rules for all gyms to follow.
