How did Archimedes determine if the King's Crown was pure gold?

Water Displacement. Archimedes measured the volume of the crown using water displacement, then measured the volume of a known pure gold sample of equal mass to determine if they had the same volume.

What is friction?

Friction is a force that exists between surfaces and acts to resist motion.

100

What is Newtons 3rd Law of Motion?

For every action in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction.

100

What are the states of matter?

Solid, liquid, gases, and plasma.

100

What is an atom?

An atom is the smallest unit of matter that has the chemical properties of an element.

200

What is displacement?

Displacement is the distance and direction of an object’s change in position from its starting point to its final point.

200

What is Newtons First Law of Motion?

An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion.

200

What is a magnet?

A magnet is an object that can attract or repel other magnets.

200

What is a physical property?

A property that can be measured or observed without changing the chemical identity of the substance

200

What is an element?

A substance that is made up of only one type of atom; elements cannot be broken into simpler substances

300

What is acceleration?

Acceleration is a change in velocity over time.

300

What is Newtons 2nd Law of Motion?

The net force acting upon the object and the mass of the object.

300

What are waves?

A disturbance caused to something.

300

What is solubility?

Solubility is the maximum amount of a substance that can be dissolved in a liquid.

300

What is a homogeneous mixture?

A homogeneous mixture is a mixture that is the same throughout.
