How can communication be mindful?

Using "I" statements. They are more accurate about how you feel, they are less judgmental, the other person will probably be more willing and able to listen to you if you use them, and most importantly, you are more likely to get your needs met if you use them.

Is isolation a self-care technique? 

Yes and No. If you are isolating because you need time for yourself and engage in self-care then it can be good. However, if you are isolating because you want to avoid accountability or avoid any feelings/thoughts, then it can be bad for mentally and emotionality.

What do emotions do? 

They motivate our behavior, and prepare us of for action. 

Emotions save time in getting us to act in important situations. Emotions can be especially important when we don't have time to think things through.
