Individuals with disabled children who change medical options will need to have their child recertified by the new carrier.  Process flows will have to be established with these carriers on how this will coordinate between administrators systems. 

New hires or others newly eligible can add disabled dependents that are 26 or older at time of new hire or newly eligible event.  This would have to be done via service center process.

Caliber - what are the rehire rules?


Rehire within the same plan year of termination:

  • Rehire < 15 days (NO Gap in Coverage) Return to same Benefits/Tier
  • Rehire 16 + days (Gap in Coverage) Return to same Benefits/Tier

  • If they met the 60 day waiting period, then term, and are rehired within 14 days, they have no gap in coverage and return to previous elections.
  • If they met the 60 day waiting period, then term, and are rehired 15+ days later, they WILL have a gap in coverage and return to previous elections.
  • If they have NOT met their 60 day waiting period, their time will resume where it was before they left.  For example:  If they had met 35 days of their waiting period, then their rehire date would be day 36 of the waiting period.


Rehire in different plan year of termination:

  • When Teammates are rehired in a different plan year from the termination effective date, their coverage will not be automatically reinstated. Teammates will be allowed to enroll within 31 days of their rehire date.
